Larry Chen stops by to test drive the Battle Aero Drift Kart!
Larry has recently engulfed himself in the world of racing and has become quite experienced in grip and drift driving. Having now built several track cars specific for learning to time attack and drift, it was the perfect time for him to drive the Drift Kart and compare the experience to his vehicles.
Coming from an enthusiast driving perspective, Larry has different insights compared to a Pro Formula Drift driver. A pro driver may talk about rear grip and steering geometry, Chen talks about tandem, transitions, timing and when to apply e brake. He explains how useful having a Drift Kart like this can be when learning how to properly tandem and quickly gain experience with door to door driving.
He continues to say how he can try different techniques while following someone in tandem and practice when and where to apply the handbrake, as well as when to apply throttle. Chen also spoke about the sensitivity of throttle inputs and the importance of when to apply full throttle or small taps of throttle to adjust the drift when chasing a lead driver.
Larry also enjoyed being able to drive for a long period and just focus on driving and not worry so much about maintaining a full car.
